DAPC issue likely to dominate election By J. FRANK LYNCH
The decision last week by the Peachtree City Development Authority to give up management responsibility of the city's tennis center and amphitheater will surely loom large as a central issue in the elections to fill two seats on City Council in November. Three newcomers to city politics James J. Adduci, Lee H. Poolman and Judi-Ann Rutherford are making a run for the Post 1 seat being vacated by Annie McMenamin, and incumbent Dan Tennant has formidable opposition in his reelection campaign for Post 2. On Monday, Tennant's opponent, Stuart Kourajian, received the first-ever endorsement from DIRECT PAC, a Peachtree City political action committee formed just last spring. DIRECT PAC Chairman Rex Green said it was too early for his group to form a strong opinion about the three Post 1 candidates. "We have prepared a questionaire for the candidates," Green said. "We hope all three running or Post 1 will respond so that we can assess and determine whether we will endorse any of them. "Frankly, we as a group know little about Rutherford, Poolman or Aducci," Green said. More should be known by Oct. 21, when the Peachtree City Rotary Club's "Get Out the Vote" committee will sponsor a "Meet the Candidates" night at the Wyndham Hotel and Conference Center. According to the Rotary Club, the forum will provide a "town hall" atmosphere for the public to meet and question candidates prior to the Nov. 4 election. Following tradition, the forum will be moderated by a Rotary Club past president. A three-person panel of Rotarians will field prepared questions before taking open questions from the audience. Only issue-related questions will be accepted. For more information, call Frances Meaders or Debbie Webb via the Rotary's voicemail, 770-487-6639.
