County objects to Tyrone's latest annexation efforts

It looks like its going to be another messy annexation struggle between Fayette County and one of its municipal governments.

The Fayette County Commission reacted angrily last week when it heard about an annexation request from Tyrone.

Tyrone sent the county a request to annex 10.8 acres off Trickum Creek Road, but...

"Once again, they sent us no development plan or proposed use," said county zoning director Kathy Zeitler.

Zeitler said Tyrone had recently requested and received annexation approval for property just north of the current request.

Once the property was in Tyrone, she said, the town created a special zoning category to allow it to be part of John Wieland's PUD. After the property was zoned into the new category, she said Tyrone eliminated the category.

"If they're not going to the trouble of providing us information, my intention is to assume the worse," said Commissioner Peter Pfeifer.

Commission Chairman Greg Dunn agreed and said it would be fine, if the town kept the same land use as the county.

The commission agreed to object to the annexation until further information was provided from Tyrone.
