Let the main things be the plain things

By REV. DR KNOX HERNDON
Pastor

Several months ago my wife Dee and I went to hear Henry Blackaby speak on "Experiencing God." I understand he will be back in Atlanta in January 2004. If you get a chance to hear him, I would highly recommend you do so.

He said some really good things, some of which I had heard, and some were very new and original ways of looking at our walk with God. One thing in particular I remember was the statement, "Let the main things be the plain things." I really liked that and it is so true.

People often tell me, "Pastor, the Bible is so complicated." I will agree that some parts are, but then there is much that we can and do understand. I had a professor in seminary say, "We have all we need to know for faith and practice in the Bible."

In keeping with this theme of "let the main things be the plain things" here are the Ten Commandments in Cajun.

The Ten Commandments in Cajun... (Keeps it REAL Simple)

1. God is number one... and das' All.

2. Don't pray to nuttin' or nobody... jus' God.

3. Don't cuss nobody... 'specially da Good Lord.

4. When it be Sunday... pass yo'self by God's House.

5. Yo mama an' yo daddy dun did it all... lissen to dem.

6. Killin' duck an' fish, das' OK... people - No!

7. God done give you a wife... sleep wit' jus' her.

8. Don't take nobody's boat... or nuttin' else.

9. Don't go wantin' somebody's stuff.

10. Stop lyin'... yo tongue gonna fall out yo mouf!"

I can't print it any plainer DEN DAT!!
