Obituaries

Mary Carter


Mary Ruth Carter, 78, Fairburn, died Aug. 29, 2003. She was born May 23, 1925 in Coweta County.
Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Daniel Overdorf officiating.
Survivors include sons, Victor Carter, and Vincent and Debbie Carter, all of Newnan; daughters, Pat and Wayne Goddard, Hampton, and Gail and Roy Sims, Fayetteville; a brother, J. W. Borders, Newnan; sisters, Martha Polk, Carrollton, and Evelyn White, Dalton; grandchildren, Matthew Carter, Shelley Carter, David Sims, and Katie Goddard; and great-grandchildren, Dylan Sims, Ashley Sims, and Skye Carter.
Parrott Funeral home, Fairburn, was in charge.

Gussie White


Gussie E. White, 86, Union City, died Aug. 30, 2003. She was born April 4, 1917 in Fulton County. She was preceded in death by her husband, James G. White, and a daughter, Regina Chastain.
Services were at the Southwest Christian Church, East Point, with the Rev. Jim Dyer and the Rev. Thom Miller officiating. Interment was at Crestlawn Cemetery, Atlanta.
Survivors include sons, James and Lauren White, Newnan, and Kenneth White, Lawrenceville; a son-in-law, Fred Chastain, Conyers; a brother, William Hasty, Menlo, Ga.; and grandchildren, Kenneth White, Kelly White, and William White.
Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge.

Eva Meadows


Eva Rooker Meadows, 79, Grantville, died Sept. 2, 2003. She was born March 213, 1924 in Alabama, the daughter of the late John and Eula Mae Dees Rooker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Z. D. Meadows. She had lived in Coweta County most of her life, and was retired from West Point Pepperell Manufacturing Company in Grantville. She was a member of Miracle Tabernacle Worship Center, Newnan.
Services were at the Claude A. McKibben chapel with the Rev. Jimmie L. Willis officiating. Interment was at the Grantville Cemetery.
Survivors include daughters, Ann and Stanley Arrington, Nancy and Ronnie Hubbard, and Joan and Gerald Howington, all of Grantville; a sister, Dorothy Smith, Gainesville; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home, Hogansville, was in charge.

Larry Arrington


Larry Lonnie “Pop” Arrington, 55, Milner, Ga., formerly of Newnan, died Sept. 5, 2003. He was born Aug. 20, 1948 in Troup County in 1948, the son of Lonnie
and Maggie Arrington. He was reared in Coweta County, attending East Coweta schools. He had worked for the Brent Scarbrough Company as a machine operator before retiring and moving to Milner. He loved hunting and fishing, raising catfish in his ponds, and riding the grandchildren around on his mule.
A memorial service was at the Jones Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Thomas Shannon officiating.
Survivors include his father, Lonnie Arrington, Senoia; a son, Larry and Rebecca Arrington, Milner, daughters, Cindy and Jimmy Kelly, Tyrone, and Cathy and Michel Tidwell, Franklin; a brother, Junior Harvey Arrington, Sargent; a sister, Betty Jean Dewberry, Sargent; six grandchildren; and special friend, “Smokey.”
Jones Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.
