HomeLife Communities receives first Platinum Award

HomeLife Communities Group, a family-run business based in the Atlanta area, has received the first Platinum Builder Award ever presented by the Home Buyers Warranty Corporation.

A recipient of the Quality Award of Excellence for the past seven years, HomeLife Communities received the Platinum Builder Award, the highest award given by the 2-10 HBW, because of the home building company’s consistent quality and customer service.

Tom Acree, New Home Division East Regional Vice President for the 2-10 HBW, explained, “HomeLife has been a builder member of our program since February 1995 and demonstrated exemplary warranty performance, always handling issues promptly. The end result is complete customer satisfaction.”

He added, “HomeLife is an outstanding builder. They are very committed to their customers and continually place any issues that arrive as top priority. I am proud to have them as a member of our program and as the first recipient of our Platinum Builder Award for excellence in quality construction and customer service”

With more than 25 years of experience in providing quality products in the affordable home market, HomeLife Communities is now a multi-state operation. Already building in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina, the company is preparing to start selling in two communities in Arizona and expects to be active in Alabama by the end of 2004.

The company, which has its offices in Canton, has communities in several Georgia locations, including McDonough, Stockbridge, Douglasville, Snellville, Winder, Powder Springs, Jefferson, College Park, Stone Mountain, Conyers, and Canton.

Jack Stachura, director of marketing for HomeLife Communities, said the company has become a leader in the value-based housing market because of attractive pricing and popular home designs in neighborhoods offering enjoyable recreational activities within or nearby. “There are several reasons we are able to accomplish this,” he explained. “We manage our resources much tighter than the average builder and we know the costs involved in each home, even down to the smallest detail. With approximately 1,500 closings already this year in our various markets, our volume allows us to purchase materials at a lower cost. And, we don’t aim for as high a gross margin as others. We attract buyers because they can get larger homes with a long list of included features for a better price.”

Stachura noted that the company has a 10-point quality inspection process when a new home is built. At six points during construction, the builder conducts inspections and “tunes up” the structure. The buyer is brought in for the seventh inspection to get buyer input on any adjustments they would like. After needed work is done, the buyer is brought back to make sure items which were pointed out were taken care of. After closing of the sale, inspections involving the buyer are held after two months and 10

months. Other aspects of the warranty continue in effect after this point, including a warranty on the electrical wiring systems, plumbing systems, and heating and air delivery systems for months 13 through 24, and a warranty on major structural entities is extended for years three through 12.

2-10 HBW was founded in Denver in 1980 and has a sales and marketing office in the Atlanta area. Now one of the country’s leading home warranty companies, 2-10 HBW covers over 1.25 million new and pre-owned homes through more than 15,000 builders and 18,000 real estate offices nationwide. “This translates to peace-of-mind when it comes to the most important

financial investment you can make,” Stachura said.
