Three incumbents and one political newcomer have paid their qualifying fees to run for seats on the Peachtree City and Fayetteville city councils by press time Tuesday afternoon.

Newcomer Judi-ann Rutherford, 52, has filed to run for the Post 2 seat in Peachtree City being vacated by Councilwoman Annie McMenamin, who cannot run again due to term limits. Rutherford, an eight-year resident of Peachtree City, is office manager for the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater. Her employer is the city's Development Authority, which manages the amphitheater and has had a running battle with Mayor Steve Brown over funding and management issues.

Incumbent Peachtree City Councilman Dan Tennant has also filed for re-election for the Post 1 seat he currently holds.

In Fayetteville, only Mayor Ken Steele and councilman Glenn Brewer have qualified to run for their respective seats. The term of councilman Bill Talley will also be up for grabs, but he has not yet determined if he will run for re-election.

Qualifying ends 5 p.m. today for the Fayetteville election and 5 p.m. Friday for the Peachtree City election.
