Special forum on mental health resources set for Tuesday

There will be a special public forum conducted by the Georgia Department of Human Resources, West Central Region - Mental Health Developmental Disability and Addictive Diseases office Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. in the Fayette County Commissioners Chambers, 140 Stonewall Avenue in Fayetteville.

The purpose of this forum is to solicit public input so that the West Central Region can properly forecast requirements for services and resources. All residents of Fayette County are urged to attend and to make their needs known. Possible reductions in state funding for mental health, developmental disability and addictive disease services and programs make this a rare opportunity to meet and address those involved in making decisions that affect our quality of life.

The MHDDAD regional offices are the contact points for people needing treatment for mental illness or substance abuse problems, support services for people with mental retardation, or substance abuse prevention.

Can't make it to the public forum? Feel free to call 1-800-832-2439 and tell the operator that you want to leave a comment for the Fayette County Public Forum. They will direct your call. Comments can also be sent to the West Central Region MHDDSA, 3800 Schatulga Road, Columbus, GA 31907-3118.
