Limited space remains for CCSU students at Fayette center

Although the fall 2003 semester at Clayton State started this past Monday morning, there are still a few spaces open for previously enrolled students wishing to attend classes at the Fayette County Higher Education Center in Peachtree City.

According the Interim Associate Vice President of Enrollment Diane Burns, there is still time for previously-enrolled Clayton State students to sign up to attend courses at the Fayette Center, where classes started yesterday at 5 p.m.

"There are still several openings available for students who plan to register or add courses during the Drop-Add period, which ends today," she said.

Most of the students taking academic classes at the Fayette Center are new Clayton State students who applied and were accepted to the University as part of Clayton State's bringing academic courses to Fayette County, at in the Peachtree City Tennis Center, 10 Planterra Way in Peachtree City. The Fayette Center has also been hosting (and will continue to host) Clayton State noncredit Continuing Education classes since October 2002.

Clayton State is offering four core courses at the Fayette County Higher Education Center for the current semester: Critical Thinking (CRIT 1101) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.; History (HIST 2111) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.; English (ENGL 1101) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.; and Psychology (PSYC 1101) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

"We are pretty excited to provide this opportunity to the citizens of Fayette County," said Director of Admissions Jeff Hammer. "And, the students we have enrolled thus far are certainly thrilled about it. We are also hoping to get the word out about additional academic course opportunities that will be available in the spring term. We will be offering additional general education courses starting in January."
