Wieland names new CEO, realigns operations

Atlanta-based homebuilder John Wieland has appointed Terry Russell, the company's previous chief operating officer and president, to chief executive officer of John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods.

Wieland will continue to focus on architectural products and strategic marketing for the company's vast product lines and neighborhood development as chief creative cfficer and chairman.

By appointing Russell to CEO, Wieland has created a line of strategic moves to position the company for further growth and success. In fiscal year 2003, John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods is predicted to close 1585 homes grossing $585 million in sales.

Accordingly, John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods will be promoting from within to fill two other critical positions in its Atlanta corporate headquarters. Atlanta native and Wieland veteran Eric Price, who is now currently the Heritage Division president, will be taking on the responsibilities of president and chief operating officer. Charleston President Mike Langella will be returning to Atlanta to take on the Heritage Division president position where he will be responsible for all Wieland neighborhoods in North Atlanta north and Charleston.

Previous to his CEO appointment, Russell headed the day-to-day operations of the company including construction, sales and land development of nearly 60 neighborhoods and 1,000 company members. An industry veteran for more than two decades Russell is approaching his 20th anniversary with John Wieland Homes & Neighborhoods.

He is a graduate of Houston University and stays active in the community by volunteering his time with Habitat for Humanity, most recently serving as the Habitat for Humanity Chairman for his church, Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, where he is also a trustee. Russell has also been active in the North Fulton Homebuilders Association where he has served many roles and received accolades. He and his wife Terrie live in East Cobb with their three children.

Eric Price joined Wieland 13 years ago in Atlanta with more than ten years of homebuilding experience and business experience. He has worked his way through the ranks at John Wieland Homes & Neighborhoods and pioneered the successful expansion to Charlotte, North Carolina where revenues have soared to more than $100 million. Returning to Atlanta just one year ago, Price has served as the Heritage Division President responsible for 30 neighborhoods.

Mike Langella joined Wieland in 1996 as a Project Manager for Harbour Point Yacht Club located on prestigious Lake Lanier in Atlanta and was promoted to South Atlanta Region Vice President in 1997. Since August of 2000, Mike has enjoyed much success as President of Wieland's Charleston Operation.
