'Outlaw Thunder' at Senoia this weekend

Wild and exciting winged outlaw sprint car racing returns to Senoia Speedway Saturday night for the second round of the United Sprint Car Series "August Asphalt Assault" doubleheader event.

USTA tourney wraps up Sat.

Play concludes this weekend in the USTA Girls 14 Super National Hard Court Championships at the Peachtree City Tennis Center, and while there are no Georgians remaining in the draw, there is plenty of outstanding tennis to be played by young ladies from around the country, according to a tournament spokesman.

Community sports briefs

The Fayette County Recreation Department is seeking more teams for its fall "power" volleyball league (open to any teams) which runs from August through November. Teams may register at the Activities House on Redwine Road. Registration is extended through Aug. 8. Fee is $160 per team with a 10-game schedule and a single-elimination tournament.
