Summer jobs end in celebration More than 350 young participants in Fulton County's 2003 summer jobs program will celebrate the end of their work terms at a Summer Employment Youth Jam Saturday. Hosted by the Fulton County Human Services Department's Office of Workforce Development, the festivities will be held 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of the new Romae Turner Powell Juvenile Justice Center, 395 Pryor Street in Atlanta, Georgia. The youth will bring their families and enjoy activities such as an awards ceremony, karaoke contests, a "Double Dutch" jump-rope challenge, dance competitions, rides, giant slides, plus food and music. This summer, Fulton County youth ages 14 to 21 participated in three sessions of employment and mentorship opportunities, Life Skills sessions and Employment Readiness workshops funded by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners and the Georgia Department of Labor. The third session, made possible by funds from the Georgia Department of Labor, allowed jobs to be created for 110 youth, adding to those in the County's first two sessions. The third session ends August 8. For more information about Fulton County's Youth Jam, summer employment or year-round youth services program, call 404-730-4751.
