Michigan man dies after crash in north Fayette By JOHN
MUNFORD
A Michigan man was killed Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision on Kite Lake Road in north Fayette County. Zelman Colbert, 84, of Detroit was taken to Fayette Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Department, Colbert was a passenger in a car driven by Beulah M. East, 75, of College Park. East's vehicle was traveling north on South Kite Lake Road when she stopped at a stop sign and proceeded to cross Kite Lake Road, police said. At that point, East's 1991 Toyota Corolla was struck by a 1999 Ford E-150 van driven by Rebecca Dale Hart, 55, of Molena, who was traveling west on Kite Lake Road, police said. Hart's vehicle struck East's car in the right front passenger door where Colbert was sitting, police said. Police do not suspect the use of alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash but blood samples from both drivers were taken for analysis as with all fatal automobile collisions. Charges are pending in the case, police said.
