There's just one week to go Coweta school year begins next Friday
One week from today, Coweta County schools will be filled with students once again as the summer break comes to a close and the 2003-04 school year gets underway. The first day of classes is next Friday, Aug. 8. Orientation for elementary and middle schools will be Thursday, with middle school orientation from 10 a.m.-noon and elementary school orientation from noon-2 p.m. Orientation or visitation times are simply a time for parents and students new to the school to visit briefly. A representative of the transportation department will be on hand at each school during this time, and the first day of school, to provide students and parents information regarding buses and routes. Teachers will not be available for conferences during visitation days. Conferences are to be scheduled at other times. Open houses for individual schools will be held at various times shortly after opening day. Northgate High School will offer an orientation for new students and parents Tuesday from 7-8 p.m. with student-led tours and other presentations offered. East Coweta High School and Newnan High School will offer visitation Thursday from 1-3 p.m. The Central Educational Center will hold an orientation next Friday from 7-8 p.m., and the Winston Dowdell Academy is holding a separate orientation time.
