PTC police arrest 2 for damaging mailboxes, stealing stop signBy JOHN MUNFORD
Two Peachtree City teenagers were arrested Monday night for damaging 13 mailboxes and stealing a stop sign in the Burnham Woods subdivision, police said. Arrested were Brandon Scott Tipsword, 17, and a 16-year-old boy whose name was not released because he is a juvenile, police said. Both suspects were charged with one felony count of reckless conduct for stealing the stop sign, and 13 misdemeanor counts of damaging a mailbox, police said. They also are charged with obstruction of a police officer and underage possession of alcohol, police said. Officers were alerted to the teens' presence by a citizen who reported suspicious activity in the neighborhood, police said. The felony charge of reckless conduct was filed because the removal of the stop sign could have resulted in the serious injury or death of another person, said Police Chief James Murray. Tipsword was booked into the Fayette County jail while the 16-year-old was released to his parents, Murray said. Both boys were intoxicated at the time of their arrest, the chief added.
