Two homes on New Hope Road may be annexed

To clear up the ambiguity created by old records, two small residential parcels on New Hope Road may be officially annexed into Fayetteville.

The homes, located at 153 and 169 New Hope Rd., total less than two acres. They are on the city's zoning map but there have been no records of the properties being annexed, according to city staff.

Although Fayette County's zoning records indicate the parcels are in the county, the county tax assessor's office shows the properties as being in the city limits. City taxes have also been paid for those parcels, officials said.

The annexation proposals must be considered by the city's Planning and Zoning Commission before they may be considered by the City Council. The commission will likely discuss the issue at its regular meeting Tuesday, July 22.

The house at 153 New Hope Road is owned by Elizabeth Landrum and is for sale. The site is .84 acres and would remain zoned for single family residential under the recommendation from city staff.

The home at 169 New Hope Road is owned by Jan Trammell and currently occupied by renters, city staff said. The 1.01-acre site would also remain zoned for single family residential under the recommendation from city staff.
