Battle of the Bands at The Fred tomorrow night By MICHAEL BOYLAN The Peachtree City Youth Council is a relatively new group. They formed last year and are trying to make Peachtree City more teen-friendly. They are seeking to improve relations between teenagers and the city as well as to provide more activities. First, they need to get the local youth interested in the group so that they can steer it towards things they want accomplished in Peachtree City. That is where Saturdays Battle of the Bands comes in. Years ago, the annual Last Fling included a sort of Battle of the Bands concert featuring local bands playing at the Frederick Brown Amphitheater. When that ended, bands were forced to find other venues, which included house parties and sporadic performances in Fayetteville, Newnan and, sometimes, Atlanta. The Battle of the Bands taking place tomorrow night gives local bands a chance to play in a professional venue and provide an audience with a lot of space to enjoy some great music. Bands scheduled to play tomorrow night are Antioch, Ardency, Chopper John and Gravel Undertone. The event has been in the planning stages since October and has found support and sponsorship from a number of local citizens and organizations. In addition to a wide variety of music, there will also be refreshments and prizes. Organizers are also hoping that members of the audience will want to join the Peachtree City Youth Council and create more events like the Battle of the Bands. The show will start
at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are $3 and are available at Backstage Music,
Deli Delicious, the Peachtree City Library, the Kedron Fieldhouse and
the Peachtree City Recreation Department. Tickets at the door will be
$5.
