County's website named in top 10

Fulton County's website was recently named in the top 10 county government websites in a national survey.

Fulton tied for ninth with Contra Costa County, California, among the largest counties in the country with a population of 500,000 or more.

The "2003 Digital Counties Survey," conducted jointly by the Center for Digital Government, the National Association of Counties (NACo), and "Government Technology" magazine, examined how counties are evolving in their uses of technology to deliver services to citizens.

The Fulton County site, launched in December 2000, got a new look in 2002 using a content management system to enable departments to post and manage their own information. It is structured to make it easier for citizens to find the services they are interested in. The site is co-managed by the Information Technology and Communications departments.

NACo is a Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group whose membership represents over 2,000 counties, and over 80 percent of the U.S. population.
