Peachtree city parade has a new route Peachtree City will present a full day of events to celebrate the Fourth of July. The day will begin with the annual parade, though this year's parade will follow a new route. The new route starts at the Village on the Green subdivision, just past the Braelinn Golf Course, and will travel north on Peachtree Parkway to the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater and Huddleston Elementary School. The parade will start at 9 a.m. and will feature Governor Sonny Perdue. Wal-Mart of Peachtree City donated $1,000 worth of candy for the parade. A map and story published Wednesday contained incorrect information about parking availability. Parade parking is prohibited at Braelinn Golf Club. Parking is available at the Braelinn Shopping Center at Crosstown Road and Peachtree Parkway. Following the parade will be demonstrations of the Peachtree City Fire Department equipment at Drake Field at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. Both the parade and the fire department demonstrations will go on rain or shine. Only lightning or intense, sustained torrential downpours will cause cancellation of either event. At 7 p.m., the Peachtree Wind Ensemble and Community Band will perform at City Hall Plaza at 7 p.m. The fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. The decision whether or not to hold the fireworks will be made late Friday afternoon or evening. If severe weather prohibits the fireworks display, it will be rescheduled for Saturday, July 5, at 9:30 p.m. If it still can't be held, it will be rescheduled for Labor Day.
