Clarence Raphell Ramsey
Clarence Raphell Ramsey, 76, Fayetteville, died June 16, 2003. He was born Jan. 21, 1927 in Fulton County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Lucille Duke. He was member of the United Auto Workers and the first president of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Atlanta. Memorial services were at Sandy Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughter, Gail Ramsey, Fayetteville; brothers-in-law, J. D. Duke, Powder Springs, and Frank Duke, 29 Palms, Calif. Arlene Marie Ross
Arlene Marie Ross, 83, Atlanta, died June 17, 2003. She was born Dec. 1, 1919 in West Seneca, N. Y. She and her husband moved to Florida shortly after World War II, and after rearing five children, they moved from Florida to Peachtree City. She brightened the world around her during her time here. Services were at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church, Barnesville, Ga. Survivors include her husband, Curtiss F. Ross, Peachtree City; sons, Robert C. Ross, Clarksville, Ga., Thomas F. Ross, Peachtree City, and James G. Ross, Deltona, Fla.; daughters, Anita M. Kittredge, Upper Saddle River, N. J., and Pamela A. Marshall, Barnesville, Ga.; a brother, Robert Egloff, Canada; and sisters, Dorthy Fahy, June Sondel, Virginia Miller, and Eleanor Rasp, Buffalo, N. Y. Suzanne Wood Green
Suzannne Wood Green, 56, Peachtree City, died June 23, 2003. She was born Aug. 21, 1946 in Philadelphia, Pa. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and a master's degree from Georgia State University. She was a long-time educator in Clayton, Fayette, and Coweta counties. Most recently she was Director of Education with the Sylvan Learning Center. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Survivors include her husband, G. Warren Greene III; a son, G. Warren “Wren” Greene IV, a daughter, Melanie Marie Green; and a brother, James C. Wood, Richmond, Va. Memorial donations may be sent to Peachtree National Bank for the Suzanne W. Greene Memorial Fund for children with special needs, relating to hearing and vision. Metro Crematory, Peachtree City, was in charge.
Thomas E. Huffman Jr.
Thomas E. Huffman Jr., 55, Tyrone, died June 25, 2003. He was born July 4, 1947 in Baltimore, Md. Services were at the Atlanta City Church, Fairburn, with the Rev. Rick Snow and Pastor Billy Huffman officiating. Interment was at Holly Hill Memorial Park, Fairburn. Survivors include his wife, Ruthanne Huffman, Tyrone; sons, Jason Huffman, and Benjamin Huffman, both of Tyrone, and Billy and Jennifer Huffman, Fairburn, Joey and Meshelle Huffman, Newnan; daughters, Victoria Huffman, Newnan, and Christiana Huffman, Tyrone; his mother, Ruby Huffman, Baltimore, Md.; a brother, Donnie Huffman, Baltimore; a sister, Carol, Baltimore Md.; and seven grandchildren. Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge.
Lester N. Scott Sr.
Lester N. Scott Sr., 82, Union City, died June 25, 2003. He was born Aug. 26, 1921 in Nashville, Tenn. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Ken Helms officiating. Interment was at Snow United Methodist Church cemetery, Unadilla, Ga. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Bray Scott, Union City; a son, Lester and Gail Scott, Fayetteville; and grandsons, Kevin Scott and Chase Scott, both of Fayetteville. Carl J. Phillip Dennis Davis
Phillip Dennis Davis, 56, Fayetteville, died June 25, 2003. He was born Nov. 8, 1946 in Muscogee County, Ga. and reared in Phoenix City, Ala. He served four years in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He spent the last 14 years working for the Fayette County Board of Education at Hood Avenue Elementary. He was a member of Harps Crossing Baptist Church. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Dennis Watson officiating. Survivors include his wife, Dawn Wright Davis, Fayetteville; sons, Dustin Davis, Alpharetta, Shea Davis and Blaise Davis, both of Newnan, and Somer Davis, Peachtree City; a daughter, Piper Davis, Fayetteville; grandchildren, McKayla, Laura, Emily, and Barrett; his mother, Katie Davis, Jacksons Gap, Ala.; and a sister, Carolyn and Don Kelley, Jacksons Gap, Ala. Memorial donations may be made to an educational trust fund established for his daughter, Piper Davis. They may be made to any Bank of Georgia location. Carl J. Betty Ramsey
Betty Ramsey, 74, Stockbridge, formerly of Atlanta, died June 26, 2003. She was born March 31, 1929 in Jefferson, Ga. She was an executive manager with Tupperware home parties for 35 years, achieving the status of No. 2 manager in the nation. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Stan Jordan officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Harold G. Ramsey, Stockbridge; a son, Ronald G. and Melinda Ramsey, Lawrenceville; a daughter, Lisa McKinnon-Miller and Mark L. Miller, Peachtree City; grandchildren, Jarrett Ramsey, Carmen Ramsey, Jason and Shawna McKinnon, Courtney McKinnon, Dan Brewer, and Avery Miller. She was eagerly expecting her first great-grandchild in October. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge.
