Hapeville Senior Center to open July 1

Fulton County Vice Chairman and District 7 Commissioner William "Bill" Edwards and the Hapeville Senior Advisory Committee will host the opening ceremony for the Hapeville Neighborhood Senior Center at noon July 1.

Located in the 500 block of King Arnold Street next to Master Park, the 7,500-square-foot brick structure will provide nutrition, daily living support and outreach for Hapeville seniors.It features a multipurpose/dining room, arts and crafts room, enrichment classrooms, computer lab, fitness room, lounge and game room.

The new senior center is next to two other government facilities: the Hapeville Library, a branch of the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System; and the Hapeville Health Center, a branch of the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness.

Constructed at a cost of $2.1 million, the Hapeville Senior Center is the latest addition to the county's network of neighborhood senior centers. The Fulton County Human Services Department's Office of Aging coordinates therapeutic health, social and nutrition services at 20 centers and facilities to enrich the minds, bodies and spirits of senior citizens.
