According to a report filed by the Fayette County Sheriff's Department, Jan A. King, 36, blacked out as she was driving a 1988 Dodge Ram truck east on Hwy. 54. The vehicle crossed the median and the westbound lanes of traffic before striking a culvert on the opposite side of the road and then hitting the utility pole.

One of the children, John Cooper, 5, of Peachtree City, was taken to Egleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta by a medical helicopter. Zack Cooper, 6, of Peachtree City and John Howell, 5, of Senoia, were taken to Fayette Community Hospital by ambulance.

Two of the children were restrained by one seat belt, according to police. King was charged with a seat belt violation and driving without proof of insurance.
