The Ten Commandments: The basis for American law By KNOX HERNDON Remember those items you used to see placed on the walls in places like court rooms and federal buildings? It has always been interesting to me how groups like the ACLU are so against anything that is righteous or decent or good for America. Yet they will take on the most bizarre, unhealthy, unnatural, and filthy cause imaginable and go to court time after time to insure that total sleaze and the degradation of any value we have fought for is totally erased from the American scene. They are definitely irreligious and especially to Christians. I want to go on record to say that they will one day face an angry righteous God who will judge them for their continuous tearing down of a nation that was founded on His principles. While I'm riled up here, I need to go on and say it. America was formed as a Christian nation from the git go. It was not formed as some pluralistic "anything goes" hodge podge. If this sounds foreign to you, do a little research on your own into the early "faith statements" of our greatest institutions of higher learning in America. Check out Harvard, Yale, William and Mary for starters. Not the current statements, because they have been watered down so much you wouldn't recognize them. Go into the historical statements and see how many times the name of Jesus Christ was mentioned and that the very reason for the institution was to promote Christianity. I have traveled to 36 countries and seen the way a large part of the world lives. Has it ever occurred to you why you go into any American supermarket and you will see a whole aisle of nothing but dog food? There is food for overweight dogs, and young dogs, and dogs that need special diets. There is dog food that is needed for good teeth and sweet breath and the list never ends. I was talking to a lady one day where she was taking her dog for chemo therapy. The list is long. My point? God has blessed our nation beyond our wildest dreams; pressed down and overflowing. Are Americans smarter than other nations? Is it our natural resources? Is it our location on the planet? Is it the size of our armies? Is it our technology? Russia has more natural resources than we, they have good scientists, they had a much larger army than we did but, they forgot and fought God. Could this ever happen in America as we chip away every vestige of our Christian roots? Don't think I live on another planet here because I am very aware of how things have changed and where we are today and I totally realize and support the idea of the rights of any faith group to live and worship here. But it irks me to see the way that we bend over backward to insure that no one, nowhere, ever accuses us of being remotely connected with Christianity. Then we go into total absurdity with groups like the ACLU to dismantle any vestige of Christianity as to attempt not make someone of another culture or faith group feel a shred of uneasiness. If someone feels uneasy about what you are reading, ask yourself, "Where would you go to find better?" If you do find a place, let me know and we all know that "Delta is ready when you or I am." But you might just find it a little difficult to find another country that is so blessed and where you are the most free. I know I'm going to catch flak over this, but the reason people want to live here is because it was founded as a Christian nation whether they know it or not. It was Christ who first liberated women and believed in the dignity of man and the worth of the individual. It was the Bible that gave us the Ten Commandments that any society should live by. They are the foundations for any civil society to thrive. The lack of the Ten Commandments is anarchy which we see all over the world today. If we let go and lose our Christian roots and why we were formed as a nation, we will flounder into letting groups like the ACLU determine who we are as a nation. Once the dismantling of every vestige of our Christian roots has taken place, there will be hard fought battles ahead to return to the greatness God has thus far allowed. I was reading where a very liberal part of the country had passed ordinances to not allow prayer at public sports gatherings. Right before the game a young student stood up with several thousand spectators watching and started saying the Lord's Prayer out loud. Thousands stood up and joined him. If we get complacent and roll over and play dead on these issues, we desecrate the graves of the martyrs and all who have died for these freedoms. Don't let it happen! Sorry, but these were some things I feel needed to be said! Fight the fight of faith! Time is short! Don't wait until six strong men carry you to church! Listen for the trumpet! The Rev.
