Historic Travis House to be renovated

One of Fayetteville's historic houses will be getting a significant face lift if the city's Planning and Zoning Commission signs off on a development plan for the site.

The Travis House, located on Ga. Highway 85 just south of the City Cafe and Bakery, would be renovated into an attorney's office if the plan is approved. The proposal includes extending the size of the home to create more room for the offices.

The property, which is under .8 acres, is zoned C-2 community commercial. The development plans have already been approved by the city's architectural review committee since the site is located in the city's Main Street district.

Parking will be located at the rear of the site, and two handicap accessible spaces will be included.

A ramp/walkway to comply with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act will also be constructed with the improvements to the house.

The commission will likely consider approving the plans at its meeting Tuesday.
