Library names top employeesBy CAROLYN
CARY
Fayette County Public Library Director Chris Snell announced the library's employees of the year at a recent early-morning breakfast held for employees only, who voted among themselves for the various honors. She first introduced Fayette County Community Development Director Chris Venice, who explained the new organization chart which represents the layout for all departments within the county. It consists of six different division directors and Venice is in charge of the library, as well as the Zoning Department, Permits and Inspections, and the Planning Department. This is the first year the library reported to someone other than the county manager. Snell then named Steve McMinn and Gena Weaver as those chosen by their peers as employees of the year. McMinn has been with the library for five years and Weaver for one year. Runners-up were Sharon Campbell, Ruby Peavy, and Eugenia West. Part-time library assistant Edna Lee was given a painting that was once part of a display at the library. The country farm scene reminded her of visiting her grandmother and was an anonymous gift. The library has 14 fulltime and part-time employees. It is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. It is closed Sundays.
