A local man accused of selling prescription drugs and alcohol to "numerous" juveniles and teenagers at a Peachtree City playground has been arrested by police.

Paul Hagan III, 39, of Peachtree City would sell the items near a playground on the south end of the Smokerise subdivision in some cases, according to police. The drug involved, methadone, is artificial heroin, according to Police Chief James Murray.

Officers want to contact the parents of children who use the park because they may be able to provide more information also, Murray said. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the department's Criminal Investigations Division at 770-631-2510.

Hagan has been charged with selling a controlled substance (methadone), selling a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a recreation center (methadone), furnishing or purchasing alcohol for a minor and three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Hagan was arrested Monday while officers conducted a search warrant at his residence, police said. Another juvenile, 16, was arrested at the scene for possession of marijuana (less than one ounce).

Officers will continue the investigation, and additional charges are expected to be filed against Hagan, police said.
