School benefit nets $54,000

With more than 250 guests in attendance, the Joseph Sams School recently hosted its 16th annual dinner, dance and auction. This year's event took place at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Jim Sams.

This is the school's signature fundraising event, and more than $54,000 was raised this year, exceeding last year's total by more than $14,000.

Sponsors for this year's event included South Community Bank, Merck Pharmaceuticals, Nature's Nursery, the two Chick-fil-A restaurants in Fayetteville, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Weeman, and Dr. Ferrol Sams, III. Sixteen host couples and numerous volunteers organized the auction and dinner.

The Joseph Sams School, founded in 1984, serves area children aged 18 months to 15 years who have cognitive, physical or developmental challenges. For more information about the school, visit www.josephsams.org or call 770-461-5894.
