PTC man recovering from auto crash that killed other driver

A Peachtree City man remained in serious condition Tuesday after he was in an auto crash that killed a Red Oak man in north Fayette County Thursday afternoon.

Robert Allen Wright, 51, of Peachtree City was in a coma and faces several more surgeries as he recovers, according to police.

The crash on Ga. Highway 279 at the intersection of Lafayette Drive killed Ralph McCrary, 52, of Red Oak. According to sheriff's deputies, McCrary was going north on Ga. Highway 279 when his 1985 Ford F150 truck was hit by Wright's vehicle, which was traveling south.

Wright's vehicle, a 2000 Honda CRV, had crossed the center line of the road before the collision, police said. Wright suffered life-threatening injuries, but both men wore their seat belts, police said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and blood samples were taken from both drivers which is a standard procedure in crashes involving serious injuries.
