Obituaries

John Goepp


John Karl Goepp, 92, Riverdale, died May 27, 2003. He was born Aug. 20, 1910 in Eufala, Ala. He was retired from Delta Air Lines and was a member of Riverdale First United Methodist Church.
Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with Pastor Lanier officiating.
Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
Survivors include a son, John and Robbie Jean Goepp, Gay; a daughter, Amellia Burns, Peachtree City; grandchildren, Austin Burns, Peachtree City, and Michelle Goepp, Newnan; a great-grand-daughter, Rebecca Ann Grant, Newnan; and a brother, George D. Goepp, Fort Pierce, Fla.
Memorial donations may be made to the Riverdale First United Methodist Church, 6390 Riverdale Road, Riverdale, GA 30296.
Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge.

Sylvia Dillard


Sylvia Dillard, 60, Newnan, formerly of College Park, died May 28, 2003. She was born May 15, 1943 in Fulton County.
Services were at the Carmichael-Hemperley chapel with the Rev. Lee Ayers officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
Survivors include her husband, Charles T. Dillard, Newnan; a daughter, Christie and Matt Nerbonne, College Park; a brother, William Harold Freeman, Fayetteville; sisters, Charlotte Campbell, Morrow, and Janie Singleton, Rex.
Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge.

Kenny Devereaux Jr.


Kenny “Ken” Devereaux Jr., 27, Newnan, died May 31, 2003. He was born April 12, 1976 in Fulton County.
Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. David Ramey officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn, Newnan.
Survivors include his parents, Ken and Wanda Devereaux Sr., Sharpsburg; a brother, Christopher “Chris” Devereaux, Newnan; his fiancée Carrie Warren, Newnan; grandmothers, Margarett Cantrell, Fayetteville, and Mary Devereaux, Union City.
Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge.

Rose Bryan


Rose Hand Bryan, 70, Newnan, died June 2, 2003. She was born Feb. 12, 1933 in Coweta County, the daughter of the late Joseph Benjamin and Curtis Leona Drake Hand. She was retired from the James River Corporation where she was a secretary.
For 6 years she was a member of the Newnan Pilot Club and served for 7 years on the board of directors of Coweta Festivals. For 14 years she was affiliated with the National Secretaries Association, Professional Secretaries International. She was a member of the Newnan First Christian Church.
Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with Minister Clay Henry officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.
Survivors include children, Deborah Lynn Wilson, Vero Beach, Fla., and Dianne Leigh Egan, Newnan; brothers, Doug Hand, Woodbury, and Lee Hand Newnan; a sister, Betty Grove, Sun City, Fla.; grandchildren, Nicole Ferguson, Wesley Moran, Amanda Moran Wake and Ryan Freeman; and great-grandchildren, Mattie Wake and Ashley Ferguson.
McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.

Gary Cox Jr.


Gary Lee Cox Jr., 55, Newnan, died June 2, 2003. He was born Aug. 16, 1947 in Newnan. He was a lifetime member of Newnan First United Methodist Church and was retired from Newnan Utilities as a lab technician after 20 years. He enjoyed his model cars, planes, and boats. He was a Civil War historian and a member of the Sharpsburg Sharpshooters Sons of Confederate Veterans, Camp 1729, and was active in many Civil War reenactments.
Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Gary Parrish and the Rev. Gary Lewis officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.
Survivors include his wife, Carole Cox, Newnan; sons, Michael Rickles, Adairsville, and Chris and Tammy Rickles, Doraville; daughters, Sandi and Lonnie Lake, Virginia, and Laura and David Payton, Newnan; a sister, Marilyn and Clint Palmer, Newnan; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Cox Sr., Newnan; nephews, Kevin and Susanne Palmer, Franklin, and Curtis Palmer, Newnan; and eight grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the Methodist Children’s Home or to Portsbridge Hospice Memorial Foundation.
