Coweta OK's funds for road extension By JOHN THOMPSON Coweta County took a big step Tuesday morning toward moving the Coweta-Fayette Connector to fruition, as the County Commission approved $10,000 in additional engineering funds. "There was a holdup between Fayette County and Peachtree City over about $30,000 in extra engineering costs," said Commissioner Vernon "Mutt" Hunter. Hunter explained a decision had been made to separate construction plans for the project so that Coweta and Fayette counties could have their own contracts for construction and right-of-way acquisition. "Most of the right-of-way has been donated gratis," Hunter said. Franco De Marco, who is the project engineer for URS, wrote the board about the engineering firm's plan. "The first set (of plans) will extend from McIntosh Trail to the edge of Line Creek on the Coweta County side. The second set will comprise of the bridge design over Line Creek only, and the third set will extend from Line Creek on the Fayette County side to the end of the project," DeMarco said. The County Commission approved paying the additional costs unanimously and instructed staff to proceed with the plan.
