Senoia library dedicated By JOHN THOMPSON On a sun-kissed Wednesday morning, many of Senoia's long-time residents turned out at the Senoia Library to honor a woman who brought the magic of reading to many in the city. The Julie Blount Humphrey Children's Reading Center was dedicated Wednesday to one of the city's residents who passed away last week. During the dedication ceremony, library board chairman Totsie McKnight told the large crowd how Humphrey had worked with the library since the 1970s. "It's been rumored that she has read every book on these shelves," McKnight said. McKnight said Humphrey spent many hours teaching children how to read and appreciate books. Senoia Mayor Dianne Cleveland recalled how one of her lasting memories of Humphrey is her sitting on the bench in front of the library reading to her grandchildren. Throughout the dedication, many of Humphrey's family and friends choked back tears as recollections of Humphrey's life were told to the crowd. Humphrey's work at the library will be evident for any who enter the building. A plaque stands over the door to the children's room with her name on it, and there is also a picture of the book-loving resident prominently displayed in the building. After the dedication, families and friends gathered in the children's area for refreshments.
