A plan to build a 77-room hotel at a mixed-use development off Ga. Highway 54 West in Fayetteville has been approved by the Fayetteville Planning and Zoning Commission.

The hotel will be located on a two-acre site on the "square" created by the main entry into The Villages at LaFayette off Ga. Highway 54. It will also access LaFayette Avenue, which becomes Tiger Trail as it runs by Fayette County High School.

The chain which will operate the hotel has not yet been revealed by developer Bob Rolader.

Rolader has said the site design is in accordance with the master plan developed for the property that has been approved by the city.

The hotel will not include a conference center but there is potential for such an amenity to be added later, Rolader said.

The entry to LaFayette Avenue can be moved further away from Hwy. 54 to create more room for stacking if desired, Rolader said. There is no time frame yet for construction of the hotel, which is governed by a set of restrictions that was developed when The Villages at LaFayette was originally approved.

The hotel must be designed so all rooms are accessed from an interior lobby, according to guidelines from the development agreement. The hotel can not be designed, operated or marketed as an extended-stay facility, either.
