Alcohol license supsension, road connection on F'ville council agenda

The Fayetteville City Council will consider suspending the beer and wine sales license for a convenience store at its regular meeting Thursday night.

The Pit Stop #12 located on North Glynn Street has failed to pay a $1,000 fine for violating the city's alcohol ordinance, according to city officials. The fine was handed down by council after the Police Department used an undercover officer who was underage to purchase alcohol at the store.

In a letter to Chanmeet Saluja, a store representative, City Manager Joe Morton said the fine should have been paid April 25, but as of May 29 the payment still hadn't been received.

Morton is recommending the license be suspended for at least 30 days.

In other business, council is scheduled to hear from a resident of the Highland Park subdivision about a planned road that will connect the subdivision with the Pecan Chase subdivision to the east. Laron Butts is concerned the connection will hurt his property value and the road connection would directly pass by his home, according to city documents.

The city required the road connection from the developers of both subdivisions to create a second entrance for Highland Park. The second entrance will provide another way for emergency vehicles to have access, city officials noted.

The road connection was required through a condition on the zoning of the property.
