Condos for seniors OK'd for Gingercake By JOHN

Plans for a condominium development aimed at empty nesters and seniors has been approved by the Fayetteville Planning and Zoning Commission. The Villas at Gingercake will be located off Gingercake Road behind the Eckerd drug store that's off Ga. Highway 54. The property was rezoned to an office designation last year, but such housing is allowed by special exception. The development will be limited to 68 single-family attached units and the developer is required to add acceleration and deceleration lanes on Gingercake Road to serve the property. A left turn lane for the development must also be installed to minimize any adverse affects on traffic.
