Obituaries

Opal Carden


Opal Sarah Warr Carden, 89, Sharpsburg, died May 19, 2003. She was born May 29, 1913 in Fayette County, the daughter of Wesley and Sarah Bentley Warr.
Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Lynn Holleman and the Rev. Ron Whitlock officiating. Interment was at College Park Cemetery.
Survivors include sons, Ralph Carden, Luthersville, John R. Carden, Snellville, and Jack T. Carden, Ocala, Fla.; a daughter, Mary Carden Cox, Sharpsburg; a brother, Eugene Warr, College Park; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.

Gloria Lassetter


Gloria Louise Lassetter, 50, Luthersville, died May 21, 2003. She was born June 6, 1952 in Luthersville. She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard H. Lassetter.
Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Bobby Carpenter officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.
Survivors include her mother, Pearl Smith Lassetter, Sharpsburg; a brother, Tommy Lassetter, Newnan; three nephews; one niece; four great-nephews; one great-niece; and special friend, Billy Robertson.
McKoon Funeral home, Newnan, was in charge.

Inez Wallace


Inez A. Wallace, 86, Union City, died May 22, 2003. She was born March 1, 1917 in Cobb County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wallace.
Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. James W. “Jim” Dyer officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park.
Survivors include a son, Butch and Jan Wallace, Peachtree City; daughters, Shirley and James Hall, Sharpsburg, Sandra and Allen Marchman, Fayetteville, and Charlene and David Todd, Douglasville; a brother, Hoyt Arrington; a sister, Virginia Etheridge; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the Southwest Christian Hospice, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30291.
Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge.

Gayle Adkins


Gayle Adkins, 59, Sharpsburg, died May 27, 2003. She was born March 11, 1944 in West Virginia.
Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Larry Patton officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.
Survivors include her husband, Dick Adkins; a son, Robert Sterling, Riverdale; daughters, Jeri Adkins Drake, Fayetteville, and Angelia Dawn Adkins Cox, Fairburn; and seven grandchildren.
McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.
