Kathleen Josephine Bray


Kathleen Josephine Bray, 76, Fayetteville, died May 18, 2003. She was born Feb. 21, 1927 in Fayette County, the daughter of Earnest Bogan and Sally Elizabeth Harris Williams Sr. She was a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Hershel Turner officiating. Interment was at New Hope Church Cemetery, Fayetteville. Survivors include her husband, John Columbus “Mac” Bray, Fayetteville; daughter, Carolyn and Robert Forsyth, Fayetteville; a granddaughter, Nicole and Robert Haydon, Fayetteville; great-grandchildren, Connor Haydon and Colton Haydon; brothers, Leonard and Yvonne Williams, Griffin, and Earnest and Carol Williams, Tyrone; and sisters, Margaret Burdette, Doris and Fred Watson, and Evelyn Williams, all of Fayetteville. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.

Ralph B. Dodd


Ralph B. Dodd, 80, Tyrone, died May 18, 2003. He was born Sept. 17, 1922 in Fulton County. He was a Naval veteran of World War II and was retired from Norfolk-Southern Railroad after 42 years of service. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Mark Riley officiating. Interment was at College Park Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Jean Combs Dodd, Tyrone; a daughter, Debbie and Michael Mewborn, Douglasville; and grandchildren, Christopher Todd, Courtney Todd, Anthony Mewborn, and Bethany Mewborn. Memorial donations may be made to the Hopewell United Methodist Bus Fund, P.O. Box 70, Tyrone, GA 30290. Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge.

Kathleen Claire Wierzenski


Kathleen Claire Wierzenski, 72, Peachtree City, died May 20, 2003. She was born Feb. 20, 1931 in Normandy, Mo. Private family services will be held. Survivors include her husband, James John Wierzenski Sr., Peachtree City; children, James John Wierzenski Jr., Lawrenceville, Terry Raymond Wierzenski, Wonder Lake, Ill, Jerry Lee Wierzenski, Snellville, Kathleen Ann Wierzenski, Hoover, Ala., and Thomas Joseph Wierzenski, Ft. Myers, Fla.; four grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Ann Smith, Warrenton, Mo. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge.

Helen Louise Hall


Helen Louise Hall, 90, Peachtree City, died May 21, 2003. She was born Nov. 22, 1912 in Birmingham, Ala. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Bill Priester officiating. Interment was at Holly Hill, Fairburn. Survivors include grandsons, Richard Hartman, Peachtree City, and Timothy Hartman, Fairburn; granddaughter, Linda Grisham, Jackson, Tenn.; and great-grandchildren, Jason Grisham, and Kaylin Grisham. Dwight Freeman Kirby


Dwight Freeman Kirby, 95, Fayetteville, died May 21, 2003. He was born June 6, 1907 in Pickens County, Ga., the son of Tolleson and Laura Little Kirby. He was in the first graduation class of Chamblee High School and operated a diary with his brothers in Dunwoody, before moving to Fayette County in 1941. He was a farmer and operated one of the first dairies in Fayette County with a Grade A milk route. He was active in the Fayette County Farm Bureau, The Fayetteville First Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, Sunday School teacher, Training Union director, and sang in the senior adult choir. He was preceded in death by a son, Tolleson Kirby, and a granddaughter, Gwen Bramblett. Services were at the Fayetteville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Stringham, the Rev. Maurice Fain, and the Rev. Dr. Marc Bramblett officiating. Interment was at Fayetteville City Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of over 70 years, Louise Donaldson Kirby; a son, Freeman and Dottie Kirby, Cypress, Texas; daughters, Jerry Kirby and Marc Bramblett, Fayetteville, and Donna Kirby, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Marcia Bramblett and Mike Edge, Amy Bramblett and Steve Waldron, Marc and Kelly Bramblett Jr., Matt and Sandy Bramblett, Leila Bramblett and Mark Wathen, Freeman and Rodd Kirby Jr., Wendy Kirby and Mark Speets; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Max and Jean Kirby, Cumming; and sisters, Sue Kirby Jameson, Atlanta, and Maxine Kirby and Hank Harman, Richmond, Va. Memorial donations may be made to the Fayetteville First Baptist Church, designed for the Lottie Moon Offering, or Truett-McConnell College Fund. Carl J. William Stewart McConnell


William Stewart McConnell, 80, Fayetteville, died May 22, 2003. He was born March 1, 1923 in Montreal, Canada. Memorial services were at Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church, Peachtree City, with the Rev. Doug Griffith officiating. Survivors include his wife, Margaret McConnell, Fayetteville; sons, William Stewart McConnell Jr., England, and Robert David McConnell, Fayetteville; a daughter, Heather Creech, Yuba City, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Stein, Toronto, Canada. Edward Wallace Darden Sr.


Edward Wallace Darden Sr., 85, Fayetteville, died May 22, 2003. He was born Jan. 28, 1918 in Clarke County, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Wallace and Louise McEvoy Darden, his first wife, Mary Greenway Darden, a brother, Gordon Darden, a sister, Mary Cragan, and a son, William McEvoy Darden. He was a skilled woodcarver and had worked for the United States Department of Agriculture as an inspector. He was very involved in the Fayette Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. Services were at the Fayette Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Westlund and the Rev. Garrett Arnold-Hoffman officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include his wife, Lois Buie Darden; a son, Ed and Betty Darden Jr., Griffin; a daughter, Mary Lynn Darden, Decatur; grandchildren, Debbie Nixon, Brian Williams, Jody Williams, Edward W. Darden III; great-grandchildren, Stephen, Barrette, Jaimee, Madison, and MacKenzie; and sisters, Louise Loman, Portland, Ore., and Elizabeth Beck, Buchanan, Mich. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.

Helen Teresa Orlando


Helen Teresa Orlando, Peachtree City, died May 23, 2003. Graveside services will be in New York. Survivors include a brother, Michael Orlando, Melbourne, Fla.; nephews and nieces, Claire Bonura, Joan Ann Antonelli, Frank Soldovere, Marie LaSalle, Marilyn Alazraki, Michael Orlando, and Carol Castelli. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, handled the local arrangements.
