Students win state awards, school receives superior rating

McIntosh High School students Sarah Stoman and Nancy Dickinson participated in the Related Vocational Instructional State Leadership Conference and placed first and third, respectively, in their competition categories.

Stoman and Dickinson were among four students from McIntosh who were selected to compete at the state conference. Stoman won her first place honor in graphic arts while Dickinson's textiles project took third.

David Ferguson and Ben Ruberg received participation awards for their projects. Jeanne Walden is the school's RVI instructor.

Not only did the students walk away winners, but the school was also given a superior rating for the Most Outstanding School Project.

Besides competing against over 865 RVI students from around the state, participants took part in a number of enrichment activities and leadership seminars. RVI is a state organization designed to help members develop leadership abilities through participating in career-related activities.

This year's theme was "RVI Leadership in Action." To participate at the state conference level, students must be nominated by their RVI coordinator and tech prep teacher.
