Huddleston kindergarteners learn about careers
The kindergarten children of Huddleston Elementary School recently studied community helpers/careers. Peachtree City Mayor Steve Brown addressed the five kindergarten classes. They were excited to learn what a mayor does and how much money he makes. Ginger Barnes from Georgia Power came to visit. She described her job, which was designing transformer stations. The students asked many questions about electricity. Al Ensell is an air traffic controller in Peachtree City. He talked to the children about directing all of the planes. Later all of the children wrote paragraphs about what they would like to be when they grow up. They dressed up for their parts, some were doctors, nurses, pilots, veterinarians, medical helicopter pilots, photographers, policemen and firemen. The week concluded with a field trip in the community and a visit to Home Depot, the fire and police stations and Kroger and Publix, learning about all different kinds of community helpers.
