Four high school seniors received the Mowell Cup for 2003. It has been given each year since 1965 by the Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, to the most outstanding senior as selected by the faculty.

The criteria includes all phases of student life, academics, leadership, extra-curricular activities and compatibility with fellow students and faculty.

Receiving the cup at McIntosh High School was Brian F. Kelsch. The 15 year resident of Fayette County attended Peachtree City Elementary and Booth Middle School. He will be attending Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio, and will major in history.

William Jacobsen, the winner from Starr's Mill High, was a member of the Beta Club, Student Government, the French Club, and played soccer and basketball.

Stephen Lawson received the Mowell Cup at Sandy Creek High School. He will be attending the United States Air Force Academy on a football scholarship. He was an honor graduate, and participated in football, track, golf, and the Beta and Spanish clubs.

Victoria Lee Buchanan was the recipient at Fayette County High School.

At the time the award was given in 1965, it was the only cup presented to a graduating senior.
