Fayette helps snag $7 million in cocaineBy JOHN
MUNFORD Agents for the Fayette County Sheriff's Department's Drug Task Force recently helped seize over $7 million in cocaine from a residence in Lawrenceville. The agents conducted the sting in cooperation with the federal Drug Enforcement Agency, according to Capt. Mike Pruitt of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department. After three people were arrested in conjunction with the operation, authorities confiscated 250 kilograms of cocaine, Pruitt said. Fayette County drug agents also recently seized two pounds of "ice" methamphetamine, which is a high-grade quality of the drug, according to Pruitt. After an undercover agent made a deal in Fayette County to purchase the contraband, detectives used a tracking device and the department's helicopter unit to follow the vehicle back to Gwinnett County. The drugs seized during that operation had a value of $30,000, Pruitt said.
