Vehicles for hire, gun range would need council approval

Fayetteville city officials have recommended several changes to the city's zoning ordinance, some of which would address some rather unique businesses that might locate here in the future.

A vehicles for hire business such as a taxi or limo service would be allowed by special exception only in the city's C-3 and C-4 commercial zoning areas. That means the City Council must sign off on the project before it can be developed.

The new changes also allow a firing range to be located in the M1 industrial zoning district, also by special exception only.

The city has had inquiries from persons who are considering locating such businesses in the city, said Jahnee Prince, the city's director of planning and zoning.

Another change would allow hotels to be developed only by special exception.
