DeCotis named Alumni of Merit Mohawk Valley Community College of New York has named Fayette County School Superintendent John DeCotis as its 2003 Alumni of Merit recipient. DeCotis holds an Associate Degree in General Studies from the school. The MVCC Alumni of Merit Award recognizes both professional achievement and community service by graduates. Past recipients have included internationally renowned scientists, local and national business executives, bankers and leaders of the insurance industry, engineers, Emmy Award-winning television producers, public officials at the state level, educators and others whose accomplishments reflect the quality of education received at MVCC. The award is sponsored by the MVCC Alumni Association and is presented at the college's graduation ceremony each May. MVCC has campuses in Utica and Rome, NY.
