Golf center to serve beer and wine starting this summerBy MICHAEL
BOYLAN
Golfers who visit the Wendell Coffee Golf Center this summer will be able to enjoy a beer after playing the course. The Tyrone Town Council approved a request by Wendell Coffee to serve wine and malt beverages. One gentleman addressed the council and spoke in opposition, but there was very limited discussion among council members before approving the request. "I felt that Wendell Coffee should have the same opportunity to provide for his guests as any other golf course," said Councilman Paul Letourneau. "Serving beer and wine with meals or to someone having lunch after having played a round of golf was in my mind not an unreasonable request." Coffee stated that he will probably start serving July 1 and has plans to include a full restaurant, though the details have yet to be hammered out. Coffee has a restaurant license and states that the hours of operation will be the same as the hours of operation for the club. "The customers asked for us to serve beer and wine," said Coffee, who also said that there will be several tables for people to sit at but no bar.
