5 arrested for tossing destructive device in Church Street area

Fayetteville Police have arrested five people after an homemade explosive device was thrown out of a truck the evening of Saturday, May 3.

According to warrants filed for their arrest, the device was made with a household cleaning product, an empty plastic bottle and other ingredients. The device was thrown from a truck that evening and all five people arrested were in the truck when the incident occurred, warrants said.

It is not clear how much damage the device may have caused.

Shaun Ryan McIntosh, 21, and Derek Wade Butler, 20, were arrested for possession of a destructive device. Both McIntosh and Butler made the device, warrants said.

Three others were charged with being a party to the crime of possession of a destructive device: Stephen Jesse Farr, 19; Jennifer Nicklas Smith, 18, and Joshua Adam Singletary, 20.
