Fayetteville police detectives are still following up on the city's two armed robberies that occurred last week.

In fact, while investigating the Wednesday holdup of the Shell gas station on north Glynn Street, detectives found some cash that may have been from the robbery of the Banks Crossing Kroger grocery store the previous Sunday.

The money was near a broken plastic container. The masked man who took the money during the Kroger incident left with the cash in plastic containers, according to police.

Police have also released a sketch of the alleged suspect in the Shell holdup.

Detectives are also following up on other additional leads, according to Lt. Beverly Trainor.

During Sunday's robbery at the Kroger, which took place late at night, the masked man left the store in a car driven by a second suspect. But police determined they used a second getaway car and ditched the original vehicle behind the former Kmart store at the shopping center.

The Wednesday robbery at the Shell station occurred around 2:15 p.m. and the unmasked perpetrator got away with the money on foot. Police conducted an extensive search of the area with numerous officers and deputies joining the sheriff's department's K-9 unit and helicopter.

Anyone with information on the Shell robbery should call Det. Deb Chambers; information on the Kroger robbery should be directed to Det. Bob Bautista.
