Lady Chiefs ranked first in U.S. in two polls By MICHAEL
BOYLAN
The McIntosh Lady Chiefs will have their biggest game of the season tomorrow when they host Parkview at 7:30 p.m. McIntosh, ranked number one in Georgia's AAAAA classification, also tops the national rankings of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and Student Sports magazine. One win away from the final four of the state playoffs, they are 20-0 and have outscored their opponents this year 157-8, posting 13 shutouts along the way. The team also boasts Region 4-AAAAA's top scorer, Jessie Lenze who has 39 goals and 12 assists this season. "This is a hard working, cohesive group," said Coach Stephen Buckner. "They are on the same wave length as to what their objective is." When asked if that objective was a state title, Buckner responded by saying, "The goal is to play as well as we possibly can. If that means a state title, then so be it." Saturday's game will be the team's first game back on their home field at McIntosh since a new $50,000 surface was installed. The team will also be celebrating senior night and will retire former standout Julie Herdic's number at halftime. Parkview is currently ranked third in the state in AAAAA and sports a record of 18-1. The winner of this game will face the winner of East Coweta/Roswell in the semifinals.
