Students earn honors at Georgia Science and Engineering FairAndrew Ash and Andrew Zheng from Rising Starr Middle received the Discovery Young Scientist Challenge Award at the 2003 Science and Engineering Fair April 5 in Athens. In addition to the special awards, the following students placed in the regional fair: Ash and Zheng of Rising Starr Middle, first, physics; Shelby Bachman of J.C. Booth Middle, third, physics; Tommy Cook of J.C. Booth, second, botany; Ravi Dayabhai, Young Kim, and Billy Wilson of Flat Rock Middle, second, behavior and social; Angela Garza and Erin Patterson of Starr's Mill High, third, environmental; and Kenneth Phillips of McIntosh High, third, physics. The fair featured more than 800 projects selected from over 100,000 originally submitted at the local level.
