Meteorologist visits Camp Creek Middle School
Gene Norman, chief meteorologist of CBS Clear News 46, visited with sixth graders at Camp Creek Middle School recently. Norman's visit created one of many community partnerships the school has developed with businesses in the community. Additionally, Norman's visit provided a real life connection and extension of the weather unit in the Earth Science curriculum. Norman sparked a lively discussion on meteorology, weather safety, and the four types of major storms. The students were attentive and engaged as Norman reviewed the types of clouds, the instruments used to predict the weather, and the causes and effects of various weather patterns. Students were especially excited to ask questions about predicting the weather as well as the business of broadcasting. Students were delighted to see a clip from Norman's visit featured on Clear News 46 during the 5 p.m. segment. This was a community partnership that students will long remember and cherish.
