Landmark sings praiseLandmark Christian middle school and upper school students are singing praise in a new way this year. Landmark students have put together praise teams for middle and upper school chapels to create more opportunities for students to be involved in chapel. The upper school was first to get its band and singers together. They have worked to offer a freshly appealing worship atmosphere for the student body. Chapel prefects Emily Burslem and Allen Gay believe that this change allows the worship music to connect with more students. Seeing the success of the upper school Praise Team, the middle school was inspired to share its talents at chapel worship also. Middle school teacher Kris Holtzclaw encouraged several of his seventh-grade students to lead worship in front of their peers using their voices, guitar, and drums. An eighth-grade Praise Team was also formed. The result is a time of musical worship of the Lord created by the students for the students. The chapel prefects feel that having a praise team brings consistency and better quality to student worship and, therefore, to chapel overall. Through actively taking part in worship, the middle and upper school students have grown in their sense of ownership of their chapel time; while their love of worship and their music appreciation has been nurtured.
