Wynnmeade turf battle over weapons leads to arrests of 4 PTC teens By JOHN MUNFORD
Police arrested four juveniles last week after a fight on Tower Road in the Wynnmeade subdivision that started when one of the youths confronted another for bringing a gun into the subdivision. Police Chief James Murray said another juvenile displayed a knife during the fight. Both of those boys left the scene after ditching the weapons, but they were identified by witnesses as the two who drew the weapons, Murray said. One of the offenders was found on the cart path bridge over Ga. Highway 74 while the other was found at his home, Murray said. The offenders are both brothers who live in the Preston Chase subdivision off Wisdom Road in Peachtree City, he added. The gun was found in a mailbox to a residence on Tower Road while the knife was found on the ground nearby, Murray added. "Kids with guns can lead to disaster," Murray said. "... Because it doesn't take but one bad second to wind up shooting somebody." Murray said the department would seek continue to seek harsh punishments for those caught illegally with guns as was the case in this incident. The juvenile who brandished the gun, who was 15, was charged with aggravated assault, carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct, Murray said. The juvenile who had the knife was 14 and was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct while the other two boys, also 14, were charged with disorderly conduct, the chief said.
