The Lafayette McLaws camp, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Fayetteville, is sponsoring services Saturday, April 26, in honor of Confederate Memorial Day.

The service begins at the gazebo area at Heritage Park, Fayetteville, and will end at the Fayetteville City Cemetery. The cemetery is the site of approximately 90 Confederate veterans.

Features will include bagpipes, uniformed Confederate re-enactors, a Children's Parade of Southern state flags, artillery, and rifle salutes along with traditional hymns. There will be 26 young people who represent 11 Southern state flags.

Preceding the evening ceremony will be a Living History demonstration on the grounds of the historical Holliday House from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tents, equipment and period weapons will be on display and re-enactors will be available to answer questions and demonstrate military drill of the period.

The Holliday House will be open to the public for a sneak preview of its new museum displays and renovation.

All ceremonies and activities are free and open to the public.
